General questions
What does my veg box come in?
As part of the scheme you will need to buy two green bags at a cost of £4. These will have your name on them and will need exchanged each week (or left out for the driver). If you don’t return your bag them you will need to purchase another one.
Where do the veggies come from?
As much as possible all the contents of your veg box will come from our market garden grown by our fair hands. Come and see in person if you like! Late and early in the year we may have to supplement our veggies with others grown elsewhere. We will source them from other Scottish ecological market gardens when possible, otherwise they will be from organic farms in Scotland, the UK and elsewhere in Europe depending on availability.
Where do you deliver to?
Please see map below for our delivery area.
What are the different options?
We have a full season subscription option where you sign up for the whole season or a pay-as-you-go scheme. Click on the Flexi Veg Box tabs to read more. The full season is our preference as it supports local, small scale, organic farming and brings growers and consumers together in a partnership. Read below for more details.
How does my box get to me?
You can pick up your box from Blackhaugh Community Farm where we grow the veggies. If you do then you can opt for a "pack your own" box which means you can be plastic free and you can choose each item yourself..
Away from the farm, we have collection points in Blairgowrie, Birnam, Bankfoot, Almondbank and Perth. Get in touch if you want more details about a pickup point. For a delivery fee of £2.50 you can have your box delivered straight to your door. We deliver to homes and collection points every Friday. Scroll down the page to see a map of our delivery area.

How much will I have to spend each week/fortnight?
You decide when you sign up how much you have to spend each week. You will receive a credit each week for this amount. You can't change your weekly credit but you can 'top up'
Can I spend my weekly credit on other products?
No, your weekly credit must be spent on veg box items. “Extras” will be available and we plan to include bread, eggs and other goodies, but you cannot spend your weekly credit on these.
Can I spend more than my credit?
You can spend as much as you want on veg and you will get veg box prices for it all. If you go over your credit then you can pay extra when you make your weekly order.
What happens if I forget to make my Flexi Veg Box order? Or I don't spend my credit?
You need to spend your credit each week. If you don’t manage to make your order then we will make up a veg box for you that week. Don't worry, it will still be great! You need to have spent all your credit by the 23rd December.
What about holidays?
If you are away please ask for a friend to pick up your bag or we can donate it to the BaRI Food project in Blairgowrie.

Our box scheme helps to:
- Reduce carbon emissions - We lock carbon into the soil by using no-dig practices, reduce food miles and waste by selling direct through short supply chains and we use minimal fossil fuels in producing our food.
- Reduce packaging - We only use plastic when necessary and you can choose not to use any if you pick up from the farm.
- Support the environment - We use ecological farming methods which improve the soil and increase habitats for wildlife. We farm organically, without chemicals and minimise the use of heavy machinery.
- Connects people to food production - through Community Supported Agriculture, volunteering and community events.
What is a CSA?
Community supported agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between farmers and consumers in which the responsibilities, risks and rewards of farming are shared, increasing the transparency and sustainability of our food system.
For us this means that our box scheme customers pay up front for a share in the harvest, either at the beginning of the year, or in instalments. This gives us some level of security, which helps us manage the uncertainties we might experience over the growing season, from droughts to slug invasions.
In return, you have the opportunity to be directly involved with our farm through workshops, social events, volunteer sessions and our AGM where you can help make decisions about what and how we grow. AND, you get a weekly veg box full of fresh, local produce grown by us!
